On Making It
What is it that you’ll accomplish in life that will allow you to say “I’ve made it!”?
I have set many goals in my life. The famous three are:
-
Purchasing a 13” color screen TV with remote control in 5th grade
-
Drive a Wrangler in high school
-
Acceptance into Boston College
Put on your comedy/tragedy mask because I accomplished all three and promptly had a mid-life crisis at the age of 18.
My goals since then have been varied, and many have come true (MBA with-in 5 years of college graduation and making $xx by the age of 30.)
But the thing that will allow me to say “I’ve made it!” in life is when I drive my white sports car convertible to the farmers’ market to buy raspberries.
It’s OK… I know you had to read that twice. “WHAT?!” you’re thinking. And, it’s OK… you can laugh.
Crazy, I know. But there it is. I don’t know much about this future car of mine except that I’ll know it when I see it. This car will be a second car to my more practical something-or-other that gets me to work every day. It will be a special summer car just for me.
This goal is long off, and that’s OK. I like having something to strive for. This weekend at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline there was a British Car show on the lawn. And there were some BEAUTIFUL cars there. It’s enough to keep a girl dreaming and moving forward.
So, what will be your “I’ve made it!” moment?
